The singing group of Lyceum has won many regional and city competitions: “Spivaye yunist Ukrayiny” (The Singing Youth of Ukraine), “Zirka Pecherska” (The Star of Pechersk), “Chysti Rosy” (Clear Dews), and the festival competition of singing poetry “Kvituchi barvy talantu” (The Blooming Tints of Talent).
The studio is of primary emotional and sense importance for the lyceum artistic activity. The special appeal of the singing group is its exclusive repertoire. Olena Kucher who is a talented leader of this group set to songs dozens of original works of Taras Shevchenko, Andrij Malyshko, Ivan Drach, Petro Kononenko, Dmytro Pavlychko, Anatoliy Matviychuk and also Kateryna Balokha, an the honoured teacher of Ukraine. Our motherland is generously gifted with singing talents: people’s artist of Ukraine Nina Matviyenko, Volodymyr Hryshko, Dmytro Hnatyuk, Stepan Fitsych, Mariyka Burmaka, Anatoliy Mokrenko, Svitlana Myrvoda (honoured artist of Ukraine), Anatoliy Matviychuk, Zhanna Bondaruk, rock band “Okean Elzy” (Elza's Ocean), bandura player Viktor Lisovol, trio of bandura players of National Radio of Ukraine Tetiana Malomuzh, Olha Chorniy, Kateryna Kovryk, Katia Chili (Kateryna Kondratenko) (an alumnus of the lyceum, a famous singer, laureate of many artistic competitions)… They are all the participants of our performances at the lyceum, National Opera House of Ukraine, Ukrainian House, and Teacher’s Palace. It is a great honour for us ‘to study and act’ side by side with such talents as it provides a stimulus and interest to national culture.
